Recently, the British Embassy to the Philippines appointed seven Philippine Chevening Alumni to be British Education Ambassadors for the year. Launched in 2013 as part of UK’s celebration of Philippine-British Friendship, the scheme aims to recognise the outstanding contribution that many alumni make to UK-Philippine relations and the role they play in promoting cooperation in the area of education. Mrs Delmaude Ryan, Chevening Scholar 2008/2009 was recently sworn in as Montserrat’s new Deputy Premier and Minister of Education, Health & Community Services following the island’s general elections on 11 September. Mrs Ryan’s campaign focused on education, public service leadership, community activism, and volunteerism in Montserrat. Read more
