In September 2017, the British Embassy in Cairo held the second 'Gender September', which includes a month of events and communications on what the UK is doing to support greater gender equality in Egypt and why it matters. This year's theme was sharaka (partnership), defined as men and women working together for the good of society. The British Council Study UK Alumni Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of international alumni who studied at UK universities. There are three award categories: Professional Achievement Award, Entrepreneurial Award, and Social Impact Award. Ten of our 2015/2016 Chevening Scholars have been selected to represent this year's cohort as Social Media Ambassadors (SMAs). More than 50 scholars applied to be part of the programme, and after assessing all of their applications, the Secretariat is delighted to announce the ten who stood out from the crowd. Read more
