Applications for the 2018/2019 round may have closed on 7 November, but Turkmenistan's Chevening Officer Murad Kakajykov has continued marketing, with staff from the embassy attending the Education and Sport annual exhibition in Ashgabat on 9-10 November 2017 to promote the programme. Read more

As part of the 'Chevening Explores’ series, Cheveners past and present came together in Nottingham to discuss the challenges and opportunities around sustainability. The event, Sense and Sustainability, opened with a welcome speech from Professor Sarah Metcalfe of the University of Nottingham, during which she outlined the university's research priorities and institutional focus on sustainable and resilient cities. She also acknlowledged the value of the Chevening programme for the scholars in attendance. Read more

The British Embassy Reykjavik and GAMMA Capital Management have signed a two-year agreement to offer Chevening Scholarships in Iceland for students intending to study finance-related subjects. Read more

1,650 Chevening Scholars were formally welcomed to the UK at Chevening Orientation, our inspiring inaugural scholarship event held at ExCeL London on Saturday, 21 October. Orientation marks the start of their year studying at universities up and down the country and is one of only two times in the academic year that all scholars will be in the same place at the same time. Indian and Pakistani scholars play cricket

In the spirit of building understanding through sport, Cheveners from India and Pakistan worked together to arrange a cricket match in July. Inspired by their national teams playing each other in the ICC Champions Trophy, the scholars swapped their books for their bats to participate in a symbolic cricket match. Scholars from Pakistan and India, who were studying all over the UK, independently scheduled, organised, and funded the event, which took place in July in London's iconic Regent's Park. Read more

1,890 Chevening Scholars came together to celebrate a successful year as part of the programme on Wednesday, 5 July at London’s historic Alexandra Palace. It was a chance for scholars to say goodbye to one another, look back on a year of study and cultural activities in the UK, and also to open up new opportunities as the scholars become part of the global Chevening Alumni network.
