Alumni in North Macedonia showcase impact with HRH the Earl of Wessex
The British Embassy in Skopje recently organised a ‘Chevening and Youth’ reception, hosted by British Ambassador Rachel Galloway, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, and HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex during his visit to North Macedonia.
Twenty-five Chevening Alumni were invited to discuss their work with the Ambassador, the Prime Minister, and HRH, who was on a return visit to the country after 13 years. The alumni represented both the public and private sectors, with representatives from academia, the arts, and civil society organisations. The event was also attended by the Minister for Information and Society Damjan Manchevski (Chevening Fellow) and advisors to the Prime Minister.
In his address, HRH thanked attendees for the warm reception and agreed with Prime Minister Zaev that the partnership between the UK and North Macedonia would continue in areas where the two countries have common interests, such as creativity, education, and youth issues.
Ambassador Rachel Galloway said that the visit was an opportunity to showcase the depth of the UK-North Macedonia relationship on a range of issues, and acknowledged the enthusiasm of the country’s youth in building a better future.
Fantastic two day visit of HRH Prince Edward to North Macedonia. Opportunity to showcase the depth of our relationship and support from preschool education to environmental awareness. Privilege to see the enthusiasm of youth to build a better future. #RoyalVisitNorthMacedonia pic.twitter.com/Cjv3p3ZP1U
