Florence Nightingale Comes Home – 21 January

The Royal College of Nursing Library and Archives presents a roundtable event discussing the complex life and history of the famous statistician and founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Nottingham.

 


 Reverting to Type – Until 29 January

Reverting to Type 2020 features the work of 100 artists from 16 countries who have created protest posters in 2020. The posters protest a variety of topics such as the global climate crisis, fake news and surveillance capitalism, and calling out racism and sexism. There are also posters reacting to the coronavirus pandemic.

 


 Celtic Connections – Dates throughout January

Glasgow’s annual folk, roots, indie, world and traditional music festival celebrates the links between Celtic music and cultures across the globe. On offer will be virtual ceilidhs, workshops, talks, dancing and art exhibitions.

 


 Courtauld Gallery Virtual Tour – Ongoing

If you want to enjoy master pieces from the likes of Vincent Van Gogh or Edouard Manet from the comfort of your home, then the virtual tour offered by the world famous Courtauld Institute of Art will take you on a vivid photographic adventure, where you can zoom in to admire individual brush strokes.

 


Royal Albert Home– Ongoing

Whilst this iconic concert venue remains shut, the Royal Albert Hall is bringing you exclusive sessions from world renowned artists for free, though you can choose to donate in support of them. There’s a variety of past concerts that are still available and future dates are scheduled regularly.

LondonCats International Cat Extravaganza  – 10 – 12 January

If you’re an avid cat lover, make your way over to Surrey for an event about all things feline! Join other cat enthusiasts to witness an international competition with over 200 cats, a multitude of quirky cat vendors, 8 super interactive “Judging Rings”, “Meet the Breeds”, and a “Kitty Corner”.

 


London Short Film Festival – 15 – 24 January

Now in its 18th year, the London Short Film festival will offer a hybrid edition of both online and in person events, which will showcase a range of film screenings, live music events, and workshops and talks, by both new and established talent in filmmaking.
