Chevening Explores: Modern Slavery in Collaboration with the Centre for the Study of International Slavery
£5
This Chevening Explores event will look at one of the FCDO’s key priority areas – global challenges, including modern slavery.
The day will start at the International Slavery Museum where you will have a guided tour on resistance, liberation, and legacies. This tour will introduce you to fundamental aspects of transatlantic slavery and Liverpool’s involvement in the trade.
Then, in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of International Slavery, you will hear from a panel of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers in modern slavery and human trafficking, who will present a short overview of their research and engage in a roundtable discussion addressing some of the key questions within the research field. This will include themes such as the ethics of research in developing countries, critical approaches to policymaking, engaging with businesses, and survivor support. You will have an opportunity to participate in the discussion and put forward questions to members of the panel.
