From Moss Side to Marseille: The Art of Michael Browne and Eric Cantona, National Football Museum – Manchester, 14^th Jan – 1^st June 2023

Commissioned by ex-Manchester United footballer Cantona and executed by Browne, this collection is influenced by the pair’s sporting heroes who used their positions to advocate for social change.

Edinburgh Science Festival – City Art Centre, Edinburgh, Scotland, 1^st – 16^th April 2023

The Edinburgh Science Festival is the UK’s largest Science Festival and takes place for two weeks each year around Easter. The festival has a diverse programme offering all manner of unique experiences including exhibitions, workshops, and lots more.

Dragon Egg Hunt – Gwrych Castle, Abergele, Wales, 1^st – 16^th April 2023

To celebrate Easter, there’s an egg hunt at Gwrych Castle. The castle was featured on the reality TV show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Hannah Starkey – Principled & Revolutionary: Northern Ireland’s Peace Women – Ulster Museum, Belfast, 7^th April – 10^th September 2023

Commissioned by the Belfast Photo Festival, this exhibition coincides with the 25^th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. It displays the untold stories of the women who were influential to peacebuilding in Northern Ireland.

The Cave Art of Lascaux: A virtual reality experience – Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, Bristol, 1^st April – 10 September 2023

Lascaux was discovered by two teenagers in 1940s France. It features etched and painted images of animals. These etchings date back 21,000 years and are a fantastic insight into some of the earliest researched periods of human history.

Bishop Auckland Food Festival 2023 – Durham, 22^nd – 23^rd April 2023

The food festival brings together traders and producers from across the region to sell their delicious treats. Soak up the atmosphere with live music and attractions and buy lots of goodies to take home too. The festival promises to be a great day out.

Webinar: Spectres of Lost Futures: Hauntology and Juan Soto’s Parábola del retorno – 26^th April 2023

Join a webinar with guest speaker Dr Cherilyn Elston (University of Reading), as part of the Global Language-based Area Studies research theme at the school.

Dr Cherilyn researches Colombian history, literature, and culture, with a particular focus on women’s writing, the feminist movement, and the armed conflict.

The event will take place online as a Zoom webinar and will be recorded for publication after the event.

Lecture: Evidence on the Treatment of Maternal and Child Mental Disorders – Belfast, 28^th April 2023

This lecture will discuss interventions that may help children and mothers with mental disorders, as well as potentially improving further life course outcomes including female empowerment, parenting decisions, and children’s educational outcomes.

The speakers are Prof Sonia Bhalotra and Prof Siobhan O’Neill.

This free event will take place at Riddel Hall, 185 Stranmillis Road, Belfast, BT9 5EE.

Exhibition: Return of the Gods – Liverpool, 28^th April 2023 – 25^th February 2024

From Wonder Woman to Hercules, our screens are dominated by chiselled superheroes wielding their power, but who inspired these indestructible figures?

This family-friendly exhibition dives into ancient Greek and Roman mythology to expose the original heroes and heroines of our time.

Originally collected by the 18th century antiquarian Henry Blundell of Sefton, this is the first time this significant collection of sculptures will be displayed on such a scale, with the sculptures comparable in importance and quality to the Charles Townley collection at the British Museum, and to Roman sculptures at the Vatican.
