Find out how Danni’s career in international education led her to Chevening, and what she likes to do when she’s not managing the UK programme!

Chevening: What attracted you to come to work with Chevening?

Danni: I have been familiar with Chevening for many years as I previously worked in international student recruitment at both Royal Holloway, University of London, and Bournemouth University.  I remember how the Chevening Scholars were so committed and passionate about their area of study, and what a great opportunity it was for the universities to be involved in such a prestigious scheme. I have been working in different sectors for the last few years and this was a great opportunity to return to the exciting world of international education, but from a slightly different perspective.

What are you most looking forward to in this role?

Working as part of a team to support the transition from Chevening applicant to Chevening scholar! The UK team provide an exciting range of events and activities for the scholars during their stay in the UK, and I am looking forward to attending different events and getting to know some of the scholars.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

I am a big fan of all kinds of theatre, but especially musical theatre, so I spend a lot of time watching shows both in London and Bournemouth, where I live. I also spend time volunteering for the Alzheimer’s Society as a ‘Dementia Champion’ and hold sessions to try and create more dementia-friendly communities. Coming from London, I enjoy all the opportunities a big city offers, but I am also lucky enough to live near the sea and love exploring the Dorset coastline – as long as any walks end up in a café with good coffee and cake!
