Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland begins in November each year and keeps the Christmas party going right through until January. There’s something for everyone at Winter Wonderland, from thrill-seeking rides and carnival games to Christmas markets, food stalls, an ice rink and big top shows.

Many of Bristol’s best museums and galleries are free to enter, Clifton Suspension Bridge will be lit up after dark, and you’ll be able to buy spiced and mulled Christmas drinks in the many bars of Bristol or experience a traditional German Christmas market in the centre of Bristol.

Celebrate the winter solstice at Burning the Clocks

The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year and on this day the people of Brighton and Hove gather together to make paper and willow lanterns to carry through their city and burn on the beach to mark the end of the year. ‘Burning the Clocks’ combines a family lantern procession with a spectacular fire and fireworks show with live music, bringing the city together to celebrate.
The event is free, with the parade starting at 18:30.

Christmas Day concert at Eastbourne Bandstand

The traditional Eastbourne Bandstand Christmas and New Year Concerts returns to the south coast with live music from the Eastbourne Sliver Band. Tickets are free.
