A Chevener's guide to UK university applications
You’ll need to choose three master’s courses at up to three UK universities for your Chevening Scholarship application. It’s up to you to research and select these courses based on your career goals.
- Use the Chevening course finder to identify eligible courses. Read further guidance on how to choose a course.
- Check the UCAS Postgraduate website and individual UK university websites for detailed information on available courses, entry requirements, and deadlines.
Entry requirements vary between universities and courses. Carefully review the course websites to ensure you meet their criteria, which may include:
- An undergraduate degree in a specific subject.
- A minimum grade in your undergraduate degree.
- Other qualifications or experience.
Application deadlines also vary. Some courses only accept applications until they are full, so applying early is crucial. Make sure to meet the Chevening university offer deadline listed on the application timeline.
Once you’ve confirmed you meet the entry requirements, apply directly through the university websites. Application processes may vary but typically require:
- A letter of motivation or personal statement explaining why you want to study the course at that university. UCAS offers advice on writing a postgraduate personal statement.
- English language test results. Find support on strengthening your English language skills.
- Proof of previous qualifications (e.g., undergraduate degree transcript and graduation certificate).
- Academic and professional references.
To secure a Chevening Scholarship, you must have an unconditional offer from at least one of your UK university courses by the deadline listed on the Chevening application timeline. Upload your unconditional offer to the online application system by this date.
By following these steps, you can increase the likelihood of your university applications being successful and meeting all Chevening requirements. Good luck!
